How to Cook Bacon in the Air Fryer

Preheat the air fryer to 350ºF – I’ve found this temperature is the sweet spot for delightfully crispy but not burnt or smoked bacon (I tried cooking the bacon at 400ºF and that was much too hot).

While the air fryer preheats, slice the bacon strips in half so they fit in the fryer. If your air fryer is big enough, keep the bacon strips whole – the ends can fold over a little bit (but not overlapping). Place the strips of bacon in a single layer in the air fryer.

Because of the air flow in the fryer, both sides cook evenly (and more quickly, too), so avoid stacking the strips.

Air fry the bacon for 6-10 minutes depending on the thickness (the thinner the bacon the faster it cooks). Halfway through, use tongs to flip the strips over. All

FAQ

Should I put water in the bottom of the air fryer when cooking bacon?

No need! Because of the air flow in the air fryer, water isn’t needed.

What if my bacon strips are too long for the air fryer basket?

Simply cut the strips of bacon in half before placing in a single layer in the air fryer. Avoid overlapping or stacking the bacon strips so they cook evenly and get nice and crispy.

  • Preheat the air fryer to 350ºF.

  • Slice each strip of bacon in half and place them next to each other on the air fryer pan. They can be overlapping a little bit, but not all the way (they shrink as they cook).

  • Air fry bacon at 350ºF for: – thin bacon: 6-7 minutes– medium bacon: 8 minutes– thick bacon: 9-10 minutes
  • Use tongs to flip the bacon halfway through the bake time. For extra crispy bacon, continue cooking for an extra 30-90 seconds depending on the bacon thickness.

  • Multiple Batches: If you’re cooking multiple batches of bacon in the air fryer, discard the excess grease between batches to prevent smoking.
